Biblical Wall Calendar

In the opening chapters of the Bible, God established that the sun and the moon would be for lights upon the earth, and for signs, and seasons, and days, and years (Genesis 1:14-17).

The new year, according to the Bible, starts at about the time we commonly refer to as the beginning of spring each year. “This month [Abib] shall be unto you the beginning of months: it shall be the first month of the year to you” (Exodus 12:2; 13:4; 23:15, KJV). “Abib” means to be tender, green.

The seven-day weekly cycle was originated at creation, when God created for six days, and then rested on the Sabbath day, and then blessed the seventh day and sanctified it (Genesis 2:1-3).

The Bible clearly warns Christians not to learn, practice, nor incorporate any form of idolatry (pagan worship) into the worship of the one true creator God (Jeremiah 10:2; Ezekiel 8:15,16: Ephesians 5:5; Revelation 21:8). For that reason, this Biblical Calendar makes no reference to holidays of non-scriptural origin. Instead, it identifies as clearly as possible, the annual feast days (holy convocations), (Leviticus 23, Zechariah 14:17-19, et. al.) and are shown in red on a yellow background. The year-long recognition of the weekly Sabbath and the beginning of each month is also indicated in red.

To the serious student of the Bible, it is interesting to note the major events of biblical fulfillment which have occurred in precise conjunction with the special holy days. This awareness may also help equip the Bible student in understanding the timing of prophecies yet unfulfilled.
